Add-on purchaseWhile the M-Tron Pro comes with a vast library of tapes and presets, we also offer Expansion Packs available for purchase separately. They include original sounds from the Chamberlin, the Optigan, the Orchestron and some of the rarest Mellotron sounds ever recorded. The Streetly Expansion Packs come from the original master tapes that have been painstakingly recorded note by note, carefully curated then meticulously edited to fit in your next composition. Streetly Electronics has direct lineage to those early 1960s instruments guaranteeing authenticity.

M-Tron MkII is a new and a separate product to M-Tron Pro. Whilst M-Tron Pro continues to focus on the chromatic sounds of the Mellotron M400, M-Tron MkII is an exclusive library with new and specialist tools for tackling the rhythms and accompaniments, and the unique playing style found in earlier Mellotrons and Chamberlins.

Apply pitch bend (+3 or -3 semitones) and modulation to your sound. When the Brake button is illuminated the MOD wheel acts as a tape slowdown and simulates a trick where Chamberlin and Mellotron users would cut a hole in the instrument just above the flywheel and press the flywheel to slow the tapes down.

Mac Run the installer again (download a new one if you need to). When it comes to the installation selection screen keep clicking the tickbox until the text reads Uninstall. Do this for each format you want to uninstall then complete the installation process.

The artist must provide scans of at least 5 interviews published in magazines focussed on music production, such as Future Music, Electronic Musician, Keyboard, Sound & Recording or a combination of both magazine types.

Cubase users should have a seamless experience switching projects from OB-E v1 (vst) to OB-E v2 (vst3). All previously saved .vstpresets and project statuses will be recalled. These DAWs will automatically adopt the VST3 in favour of the VST2.

Move the com.apple.audiounits.cache file to the Trash then empty the Trash. When you next restart Logic or Digital Performer they will freshly scan installed Audio Units and your instrument should now appear in the Audio Units list.

Whereas VSM's Layers include a Tune knob (+/- 12 semitones), M-Tron forgoes this in favour of a button labelled 'half speed'. Mellotron aficionados will be familiar with the 'half-speed technique, which entails recording the instrument with the tape recorder running at double speed. When played back at normal speed, the Mellotron's pitch is an octave lower, effectively increasing its lower range and imparting a pleasingly dark, threatening tone. M-Tron Pro's half-speed button replicates this effect by dropping the sample playback speed by an octave. This can be applied to each Layer independently, and produces quite epic results using dual-layered sounds, with the second layer playing at normal speed. Since the range of the Detune knob covers only +/- 50 cents, I would have liked to have seen the +/- 12-semitone Tune knob retained, as there is otherwise no way to offset the tuning of the two Layers by a fixed interval without recourse to using (and holding) the pitch-bend lever.

Batsounds 'MellowSound' (VST instrument: three Violins, Mixed Choir, Brass); Dream Vortex Studio 'Nanotron' (VST instrument: String Section, Male/Female Choir, Flute); Tweakbench Tapeworm (VST instrument: Strings 1, Strings 2, Mixed Choir, Brass, Flute); Taijiguy Mellotron (sample set for SFZ players: three MkII Violins and MkII Combined Brass).

GForce's M-Tron Pro is an emulation of the legendary Mellotron, the tape-based keyboard heard on recordings by such artists as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Oasis, Trent Reznor, Trentemøller, AIR and Nils Frahm amongst many others.

M-Tron Pro contains a huge 3.5GB sound library with over 200 tape banks included, 19 of which underwent remastering at the acclaimed Abbey Road Studios. For Mellotron sound with digital ease, GForce's M-Tron Pro provides an authenticity and flexibility that meets every 'Tron need.

From the flutes on the legendary introduction to The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" to tracks from The Moody Blues, David Bowie, and The Rolling Stones to the modern sounds of The Flaming Lips, Nine Inch Nails, Modest Mouse, Muse, U2, Sigur Ros, and more, there's no question that the sound of the Mellotron is a deep part of music history. Now, you can experience that tape-based playback sonic experience for yourself - and with 100%-digital convenience with M-Tron Pro.

Sixty years ago, when the 60s were really swinging and music technology was in its infancy, an extraordinary instrument appeared. Providing the unthinkable, you could have an instrument in your lounge, which would not be out of place with your home furnishings, that was literally a band-in-a-box!

The much-revered Mellotron is considered to be the first sampler, long before digitisation took effect. Sounds were recorded, and stored on large numbers of tapes, with each providing a set of sounds that could be selected and played at will. The most commonly referred to sound can be heard at the beginning of Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles. The haunting flutes, generated by the Mellotron, have become iconic, but the Mellotron was capable of far more than just providing flutes.

M-Tron MkII could be considered a sizeable update to their much adored Mk1 plugin. There is some degree of repetition, from the more familiar sounds, but it now offers a two-manual setup, which can be used across a full 88-note keyboard, or assigned to two smaller keyboards, if you want to go for that classic Mellotron combo look and feel.

The mellotron was created in 1963 and was used by countless famous bands after that. Some of the bands include: The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELO, and Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark.

Arturia makes some of my favorite MIDI controllers as well as VSTs. I have to say that the interface with the Arturia V is about as simple and nostalgic as it gets. It resembles a mellotron that I actually was lucky enough to play while recording my last album.

This plugin is brought to you by GForce and it is one of the most well-liked mellotron plugin options currently available. I recently checked it out after having it recommended to me and overall, I really enjoy it.

Wavesfactory is a company that was founded in 2010 in Mallorca. The Newmello II is a nice plugin that is very simple to use. It is modeled after the mellotron M400. It looks just like it when you load it up on your computer screen.

The UVI Mello plugin is a fantastic product. I have used this in many different songs because it is so versatile. There are a few things that I really like about it, but my favorite has to be the strings. They have this creepy realistic feel that the original mellotron did so well.

Note: If you like mellotrons, you may also like to read about the best organ VSTs. I spent a ton of time on this article and I like laying chords down with them similar to a mellotron plugin. 2ff7e9595c
